With primary support from the United Soybean Board, International Marketing (IM) in conjunction with the U.S. Grains Council successfully organized the 2nd Southeast Asia U.S. Agricultural Cooperators Conference, ASA’s major event of the season. The aim to jointly promote the value of U.S. agricultural products and provide key importers in the region with the latest trade and market information so as to facilitate their import activity ahead of the U.S. marketing season. This year, one hundred and eighteen invited guests from 8 countries and sixty of the leading companies and organizations in and around the region, came together at the Shangri La Tanjung Aru Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia for the event which took place from August 14-17, 2005. Collectively, this group represented annual imports of well over 3 million metric tons of soybean meal and 2 million tons of soybeans.
